SARS-CoV-2 Nonstructural Protein 7 (NSP7) is one of the sixteen nonstructural proteins of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of COVID-19 (1). SARS-CoV-2 NSP7 is 83 amino acids (aa) with a theoretical molecular weight of 9,2 kDa (1,2).
- Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: Assay dependent
- Western blot: 1:1000 to 1:10000
The amino acid sequence alignment of SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2's NSP7 has 98,8% sequence identity and 100% sequence similarity (1). Functionally, SARS-Cov-2 NSP7 forms a complex with NSP8 and NSP12 to generate NSP8's RNA polymerase activity (1-3). In SARS-CoV, NSP7 and NSP8 are required for viral survival and form a channel-like, cylinder supercomplex (3). The NSP7-NSP8-NSP12 complex is considered the minimal core complex for RNA synthesis (4). While structurally similar to SARS-CoV, the components of the NSP7-NSP8-NSP12 complex of SARS-CoV-2 have reduced polymerase activity and thermostability (4).
