L-Alanine ≥99%, white crystalline powder
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Alanine is a nonessential amino acid that plays a key role in the glucose-alanine cycle between muscle tissue and the liver. In amino acid-degrading tissues such as muscle, amino groups are pooled as glutamate by transamination reactions.
Alanine has been used as an amino donor in a study of the conversion of ketomethiobutyrate to methionine in several species of Bacillus. L-Alanine has been shown to enhance the rates of germination of Bacillus subtilis spores.
Freely soluble in water; sparingly soluble in alcohol; insoluble in ether.
