Description: The Phosphatase Assay Kit is designed to measure the activity of phosphatases in biological samples and to screen for agonists and inhibitors of phosphatases. The Phosphatase Assay Kit uses para-nitrophenyl phosphate (pNPP), a chromogenic substrate for most phosphatases, including alkaline phosphatases, acid phosphatases, protein tyrosine phosphatases and serine/threonine phosphatases.

Description: The Column-PROTEIN-Concentrate™ Kit has been specifically developed for concentration of those proteins that cannot be concentrated either by precipitation or other techniques. The kit is based on a proprietary Protein Binding Resin that binds and immobilises any protein in a low salt buffer between pH 2 to 12. The binding capacity is ~0,5 mg protein/ml Protein Binding Resin.

Description: The physical properties of proteins kit is a lab activity that enables students to investigate the physical properties of several different proteins. Students will learn about protein solubility and how it is affected by various parameters; including temperature, pH, salt and dielectric constant. They will understand about protein precipitation due to pH, high salt and in the presence of organic solvents and about protein denaturation as a result of high temperature. In addition, the kit will demonstrate how non-protein agents, such as detergents drastically alter the physical properties of protein molecules and as a result, understand the importance of detergents in protein solubilisation. This lab activity involves analysis of three different types of pure proteins and then students alter some of those properties with a detergent and re-examine physical properties of those proteins. Students are challenged to consider how physical properties of protein molecules can be exploited for purification and characterisation of proteins and apply their findings on a test sample of complex tissue extract.

Description: T4 GP32 is a single-stranded DNA binding protein with key role in DNA replication, recombination and repair. T4 GP32 binds cooperatively to single stranded DNA and stimulates cell-free DNA synthesis directed by the T4-encoded DNA polymerase. It improves the efficiency of reverse transcriptase during RT-PCR as well as increases the yield of PCR products.

Description: A protein solubilisation buffer for 2D analysis must solubilise proteins effectively, without disturbing the native charge of the proteins. Urea based solubilisation buffers solubilise proteins effectively, however can modify the native charge of the proteins, due to carbamylation. Urea exists in equilibrium with ammonium cyanate that modifies α- and ε-amino groups, inducing changes in the isoelectric point of proteins leading to artifactual results.
