Description: This antibody recognizes a ~90-95 kDa protein which is identified as cell surface transferrin receptor (CD71), a disulfide-bonded homodimeric glycoprotein of 180-190 kDa (Workshop IV). This MAb is highly specific to CD71 and shows no cross-reaction with other related proteins. Ligand for transferrin receptor is the serum iron transport protein, transferrin. This receptor is broadly distributed in carcinomas, sarcomas, leukemias, and lymphomas. It is a receptor for TNFSF6/FASLG, a member of the nerve growth factor receptor/tumor necrosis factor superfamily, mediating receptor-triggered apoptosis. Description: This MAb reacts with MUC1. The dominant epitope of this MAb has not yet been determined. MUC1 is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages. It is expressed on most secretory epithelium, including mammary gland and some hematopoietic cells. It is expressed abundantly in lactating mammary glands and over expressed abundantly in >90% breast carcinomas and metastases. Transgenic MUC1 has been shown to associate with all four c-erbB receptors and localize with c-erbB1 (EGFR) in lactating glands. The MUC1 gene contains seven exons and produces several different alternatively spliced variants. The major expressed form of MUC1 uses all seven exons and is a type 1 transmembrane protein with a large extracellular tandem repeat domain. The tandem repeat domain is highly O glycosylated and alterations in glycosylation have been shown in epithelial cancer cells. Antibody to EMA is useful as a pan-epithelial marker for detecting early metastatic loci of carcinoma in bone marrow or liver.

Description: Recognizes a protein of 55 kDa, identified as CD25. It is expressed on activated T- and B-cells and activated monocytes/macrophages. With respect to lymphomas, CD25 is present on malignant cells of Hodgkin's disease, HTLV-1 adult T-cell leukemia, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, and hair cell leukemia. Increased levels of soluble CD25 are observed in the leukemias/lymphomas and inflammatory/ autoimmune diseases. CD25 molecule alone appears to function as a low affinity receptor and associates with CD122 (IL-2R chain, p75) and CD132 (common chain) to form the high affinity IL-2 receptor complex. Description: BCL10, with an N-terminal caspase recruitment domain (CARD), is found in a number of apoptotic regulatory molecules. It was identified through its direct involvement in t(1;14) of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Expression of BCL10 was shown to induce NFkB activation in a NIK-dependent pathway. This MAb labels subpopulations of normal B and T cells and is a useful tool for the sub-classification of lymphomas.
